My Oma was two years old when it was set. I liked learning about how kids lived back then. The story had a lot of boys in it but the one girl was fearless and she was a nature girl too. Her name was Silky. She collected a big spider and she caught a really big eel with just a safety pin.

Beaver Creek Mine doesn't really exist. There were gold mines there a long time ago. Loon Lake exists and so does Cobequid Road and the big town Bedford, and the city Halifax. We looked on Google maps and found all these places. There is a gold mine museum in Waverly and a town called Montague Gold Mines. We're going to go on a trip to try and find all the places mentioned in the story and visit the gold mine museum.

The story was really about Old Maud, the witch, who isn't really a witch, and Johnny Lightfoot. The story is about them becoming friends and finding out they're family.

This story was really exciting. It was strange that the author suddenly introduced a whole new set of characters in the middle though.

The Tail of Emily Windsnap by Liz Kessler

This is a good book! I like mermaids and it has mermaids. Emily is a twelve year old girl who is half human and half mermaid. On land she is human and in the water her legs turn into a tail. I really liked her friend Shona Silkfin. She likes romance, and whenever she answers questions at school her answers involve romance too! It's kind of a mystery and I don't want to give that away.

If you liked this book too please leave a comment on my blog: http://secretbookwormclub.blogspot.com

I found out that there are MORE Emily Windsnap books too! It lets you make a game out of your favorite book or books. I haven't read it all yet.

It was written by an eleven year old. Ben is a boy who did the first game. His favorite books are the Harry Potter books. His mom and a children's librarian helped him write this book.

I want to make a board game too. I'm going to make a game for Black Beauty and A Little Princess. I'm going to start with The Three Little Witches though.

You can only really do this if you can read chapter books. You can get help from adults if you need to, but it is really just for kids.

test post
